Mental Health Carers ARAFMI Australia ARAFEMI VIC | ARAFMI NSW | ARAFMI QLD | ARAFMI WA | ARAFMI is the Association of Relatives and Friends of the Mentally Ill. ARAFMI provides services to the community, by offering support and advocacy for families and friends of people with a mental illness and/or psychiatric disability. Australasian Society for Psychiatric Research ASPR's primary objectives are to promote research in psychiatry; disseminate information on psychiatric research carried out in Australasia; enable methodological help to be provided to those involved in psychiatric research; and facilitate the development of collaborative and inter-disciplinary research linkages. Australian College of Mental Health Nurses The ACMHN is the only professional body representing the interests of mental health nurses. Australian Association of Occupational Therapists OT AUSTRALIA is the peak body representing Occupational Therapy in Australia. The mission of OT AUSTRALIA is to ensure for its members that Occupational Therapy continues as a relevant and viable profession. It promotes the science and art of Occupational Therapy, its development, use and quality practice in Australia, and its on-going value to consumers and society. Australian Association of Social Workers The AASW is the professional representative body of social workers in Australia. It is committed to the pursuit of social justice, to the enhancement of the quality of life, and the development of the full potential of each individual. Australian College of Psychological Medicine The ACPM aims to provide a wide peer support network; educational resources and opportunities; and a body to promote the interests of these practitioners to government and other authorities. It encourages self-care for doctors who counsel, community awareness of the doctor's role in mental health, and supports research in the area of psychological medicine. Australian Counselling Association The ACA is a national progressive professional peak association of counsellors and psychotherapists. The ACA is primarily concerned with industry standards, creating employment for counsellors, health fund rebates and formal recognition of counsellors. Australian Infant, Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Association AICAFMHA's aim is to actively promote the mental health and well being of infants, children, adolescents and their families and/or carers in Australia. Australian Medical Association The Australian Medical Association (AMA) is an independent organisation which represents doctors. The AMA, as the peak health advocacy organisation, exists to advance the professional interests of doctors and the health of the community. Australian Mental Health Consumer Network The AMHCN is a nationwide network of consumers of mental health services. It exists to promote equity and access for mental health consumers; to empower consumers to utilise all means to sustain their mental health; and to promote consumer participation and influence within the community. Australian Neuroscience Society The object of the Australian Neuroscience Society (ANS) is the advancement of the neurosciences by facilitating the dissemination of information pertaining to neuroscience; in teaching and research; and by conducting meetings, seminars and lectures at local and national levels. Australian Psychological Society The Australian Psychological Society (APS) is the largest professional association for psychologists in Australia. The APS is committed to advancing psychology as a discipline and profession. Australian Rotary Health Research Fund The ARHRF is a national service project. In the area of Mental Health Awareness the ARHRF aims to promote greater understanding in the community through education, which will reduce stigma and improve the lives of Australians affected by mental illness. It has pledged to invest in research for mental illness with the aim of funding research that will result in better treatment and services. The Black Dog Institute is an educational, research, clinical and community-oriented facility dedicated to improving, understanding, diagnosis and treatment of mood disorders. blueVoices is the consumer and carer arm of beyondblue. It is a national organisation with members in each State and Territory. The goals of blueVoices are to raise awareness of depression and its impact by encouraging consumers and carers to 'give voice' to the lived experience of depression and related disorders. Brain & Mind Research Institute The Brain & Mind Research Institute (BMRI) is a centre for discovery, innovation and integrative research strategies, clinical product development and actions that translate research into improved treatment and disease prevention strategies. Carers Australia is the national voice of carers. Catholic Health Australia (CHA) is the largest non-government provider grouping of health, community and aged care services in Australia, nationally representing Catholic health care sponsors, systems, facilities, and related organisations and services. Centre for Mental Health Research The Centre for Mental Health Research aims to improve the mental health of Australians through research and development, training, policy and the dissemination of health information. Crisis Support Services Inc (CSS) is an independent, not-for-profit, non-government organisation with no religious affiliations that provides the specialist telephone counselling lines: Mensline Australia and Suicide Helpline - Victoria. depressioNet provides a comprehensive online resource for Australians living with depression and our families and friends to come for information, help & support. Dietitians Association of Australia The Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) is the largest profession nutrition organisation in Australia representing more that 3400 members. The mission of the DAA is supporting members and advocating for better food, better health, better living for all. Dietitians are employed in a wide variety of work areas including clinical dietitians, community nutrition, education, private sector, government, research and industry. GROW - Self Help / Mutual Help Groups GROW is a voluntary organisation, with groups throughout Australia and overseas. GROW is weekly meetings of small groups of people who have experienced depression, anxiety or other mental or emotional distress who come together to help each other deal with the challenges of life. Healthscope Limited is a Public Company which owns/manages psychiatric, medical/surgical and rehabilitation Hospitals. Healthscope is a niche private hospital operator, with approximately 2400 beds and is ranked the third-largest private provider in Australia. The Inspire Foundation is a national non-profit organisation formed in 1996 in response to Australia’s then escalating rates of youth suicide. Inspire’s mission is to create opportunities for young people to help themselves and help others. Lifeline Australia provides a phone counselling services for anyone , at anytime and from anywhere in Australia. Lifeline Australia believes every person has the right to be heard and understood with compassion and to receive competent care in time of need. Mental Health Coalition of South Australia The Mental Health Coalition is the peak body promoting the interests of South Australian non-government organisations supporting people with a psychiatric disability. The MHCSA aims to counter prejudice against people with mental illness; advocate for appropriate psychiatric disability support services; and to enhance the quality of NGO psychiatric disability support services. Mental Illness Education Australia Mental Illness Education Australia Inc. (MIE-A) is a program which aims to promote a better understanding amongst people about mental health to encourage an awareness of mental health in relation to themselves, their families and friends. It's a nonprofit, independent, benevolent Australian organisation. Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia The Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia (MIFA) is a not-for-profit, grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organisation of people affected by serious mental illnesses. MIFA has nine member Fellowships in all states and territories. Member organisations deliver programs and services such as accommodation, rehabilitation, peer education to carers and consumers, employment, education and training, activity centres, research, telephone helplines, advocacy and media campaigns, government lobbying and police training. Multicultural Mental Health Australia Multicultural Mental Health Australia (MMHA) provides national leadership in mental health and suicide prevention for Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. MMHA links a wide range of state and territory mental health specialists and services, advocacy groups and tertiary institutions to promote the mental health and well being of Australia's diverse communities. National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is the national peak Aboriginal health body representing Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services throughout Australia. An Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS) is a primary health care service initiated and operated by the local Aboriginal community to deliver holistic, comprehensive, and culturally appropriate health care to the community which controls it. National Network of Private Psychiatric Sector Consumers and Carers The National Network advocates for improved private mental health services, advises on issues, which affect people with a mental health problem or mental illness and their families, and increases the involvement of individuals, families and other interested parties in mental health matters. The National Network ensures responsiveness and accountability to the rights and needs of those people and their families affected by a mental health problem or mental illness and encourages awareness and education about mental health issues. National Rural Health Alliance The National Rural Health Alliance is the peak body working to improve the health of Australians in rural and remote areas. It is comprised of 23 Member Bodies, representing both health consumers and service providers in non-metropolitan areas. Ostara Australia are a consortium of specialist services who assist people with mental health issues to find and retain employment. Pharmaceutical Society of Australia The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) is the national professional organisation for pharmacists in Australia. PSA is the leading advocacy organisation for pharmacists influencing attitudes, opinions and policies through representation, networking, consultation, continuing education, practical support, standards, guidelines and a range of publications and health promoting programs and resources. Psychiatric Disabilty Services of Victoria (VICSERV) VICSERV is the peak body for Psychiatric Disability Rehabilitation Services in Victoria. VICSERV provides support to consumers and carers through programs such as home-based outreach, psychosocial rehabilitation day programs, mutual support and self-help, respite and advocacy. Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia The Psychotherapy & Counselling Federation of Australia, Inc. is an "umbrella" association comprising affiliated professional associations that represent various modalities within the disciplines of Psychotherapy and Counselling in the Australian community. Northern Territory Mental Health Coalition The NT Mental Health Coalition is the peak body promoting the interests of Northern Territory non-government organisations supporting people with a psychiatric disability. Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists The RANZCP is a Fellowship of Psychiatrists working together with and for the general community to achieve the best attainable quality of psychiatric care and mental health. SANE Australia is an independent national charity helping people affected by mental illness through campaigning, education and research. Suicide Prevention Australia is a non-profit, non-government organisation working as a public health advocate in suicide prevention. SPA is the only national umbrella body active in suicide prevention throughout Australia providing - community awareness and advocacy; information; and training and conferences. The Mental Health Services Conference Inc (TheMHS) TheMHS Conference is an international mental health educational forum, attracting over 1,000 mental health clinicians, managers, consumers, carers, researchers, educators and policy makers, annually. Western Australian Association for Mental Health WAAMH is the peak mental health representative body in Western Australia for non-government not-for-profit agencies that operate for the benefit of people affected by mental illness.
