JOHN MENDOZA

Chief Executive Officer

Mental health Council of Australia                                             

John Mendoza was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Mental Health Council of Australia (MHCA) in January 2005.

From late 2000, until his appointment to the MHCA, Mr Mendoza was Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Sports Drug Agency, a Commonwealth statutory authority.

Mr Mendoza was previously a Director of Education and Prevention

Services with the Drug and Alcohol Services Council of South Australia, and for three years was a member of the national steering committee for the National Campaign Against Drug Abuse.

Mr Mendoza has qualifications in education and public health. He is a former teacher, academic, consultant and senior manager in health and human services.

In 2002, Mr Mendoza was awarded two Outstanding Alumni awards from the Queensland University of Technology for his achievements in public health and anti-doping.
