Community Mental Health and Primary Mental Health Care Background Paper This background paper arose from the National Health and Hospitals Reform Commission (NHHRC) 2009 Final Report and its recommendations about future directions for primary health care. The recommendations for primary health care included 'community mental health', which led to concern that the scope and complexity of community mental health care had been overlooked or misunderstood.

On Thursday 24th June 2010, the Mental Health Council of Australia co-ordinated the delivery of a letter to the Prime Minister regarding mental health funding. Obviously with the PM changing moments before our event, the function was ‘lost’ in the shuffle. The event still took place however and Senate Claire Moore was fantastic and received the letter, which will be passed on to the new Prime Minister.
